DeUnemployment
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 31, 2026
We built DeUnemployment to help people find work. Our privacy approach is simple: we never sell your data, and we collect as little as possible.
What we collect
- Your resume or description — the text you paste is sent to our server only to find matching jobs (and to OpenAI to compute its meaning). We do not store it in a database unless you save it as a search.
- If you create an account — your email address and a hashed password (we never store plaintext passwords). We also store what you save: bookmarks, labels (yes/no), taste preferences, and hidden companies.
- Anonymous analytics — basic, non-identifying events (e.g. a search happened, a job was opened) to understand how the site is used. No IPs tied to individuals, no personal data.
- Optional contact form — your name, email, and message, used only to reply to you.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone.
- We do not show employers your resume or your activity.
- We do not send you marketing email unless you opt in to job alerts (and you can unsubscribe at any time).
Storage on your device
We use your browser's local storage to remember your search text, filters, and preferences on your device. This stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere except when you search.
Third-party services
- OpenAI — used to compute embeddings (the "meaning" of your search text).
- Resend — used to send transactional email (password resets, job alerts, contact messages).
- Cloudflare — CDN, DNS, and email routing.
- Umami — privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics. We host it ourselves; no third-party tracking cookies.
- Cloudflare Email Routing — forwards messages sent to our contact address to our inbox.
Data retention
Your account data stays until you ask us to delete it. If you want your account and data removed, contact us with the email you registered with and we will delete it within 30 days.
