About the Role We're looking for a Senior Staff or Staff Software Engineer to take on some of the most important and technically challenging problems at Campus.
This role isn't tied to a predetermined team or narrow product surface. We're intentionally looking for an exceptional engineer first and will align scope around the intersection of Campus's highest-priority problems and where you can have the most leverage. You might lead the technical direction for a critical product area, solve a problem that cuts across several parts of our platform, build foundations that make the rest of engineering faster, or take an ambiguous company priority from problem definition through production.
We're a small engineering organization, so this is a highly hands-on role. You'll write and ship code while also influencing architecture, technical direction, and how we approach engineering as the company grows. The common thread is ownership: we want someone who can identify what matters, bring clarity to ambiguous problems, make excellent technical decisions, and help other engineers do their best work.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… Own technically complex, high-impact problems from ambiguity through production and iteration. Work across the stack and across product areas rather than being constrained to a narrow technical domain. Shape architecture and technical direction while remaining deeply involved in implementation. Partner closely with product, design, operations, and company leadership to determine what we should build and how.
Identify technical investments that create leverage for other engineers and product teams. Raise the quality of engineering decisions through design, code review, mentorship, and technical leadership. Make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, simplicity, reliability, and long-term maintainability. Use modern AI tools to increase your own engineering leverage and help shape how we build software in an AI-native development environment.
Help evolve our engineering practices and technical foundations as the team and product scale.
