Forward Deployed Engineer Engineering · NYC, NY · On-site · Full-time Standard Template Labs is an AI-native, seed stage startup reimagining the future of IT Service and Configuration Management. Backed by leading investors, we're leveraging AI, graph-based architecture, and exceptional design to transform how enterprises manage and engage with their technology ecosystems. About the Role Our platform turns an enterprise's historical ticket data, knowledge bases, and integrations into instant resolutions, automated workflows, and a living graph of their organization.

None of that happens from a distance. Someone has to sit inside the customer's environment — their data, their integrations, their constraints — and make it real. That's forward deployed engineering, and this is the team that does it. You do not need to have done this job before. Most people haven't; the title barely existed five years ago. If you're two or three years into writing software, you like being in the room where the problem actually is, and you build things nobody asked you to build, we want to talk to you.

Responsibilities Deploy STLabs inside enterprise environments, potentially working on-site alongside teammates to map service workflows. Increment on production code — integrations, data pipelines, agent workflows, and internal tooling to bridge the idealisms of our product against the practical reality of your clients. Wire our platform into the systems customers already run: ticketing, identity, device management, knowledge bases, and whatever else lives in their stack.

Own a piece of a live deployment from your first month, and a whole one when you're ready. Feed what you learn back into the product. You'll see more of how enterprises actually run their service operations than anyone else at the company. Qualifications 2–3 years writing software professionally, or a strong engineering degree plus an internship where you shipped something real. Comfortable in Python and TypeScript, or confident you can be by month two.

Experience integrating against third-party APIs and working with other people's data — messy, undocumented, and in production. You build things outside of assigned work: a tool, an app, an open-source contribution, something half-finished you still talk about. You want to be in front of customers, not just tolerate it. You stay when the work gets unglamorous, and you can give us a specific example of a time you did.

Bonus: Hands-on LLM work — agents, tool use, retrieval, evals. Shipped, not demoed. Exposure to ITSM, CMDB, or enterprise IT operations. Two years in technical consulting or solutions engineering and a strong urge to write more code. What We Offer Real problems, real impact. Enterprise service management touches thousands of engineers and IT teams every day — and you'll be sitting in the room with the people it touches.

High ownership. Low process. You'll ship meaningful work every week and see the impact immediately. Technical depth. Graph databases, LLM orchestration, self-healing integrations, and natural language workflow engines — deployed into real enterprise environments, not a demo. Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits package. On-site collaborative workspace in Midtown, Manhattan, five days a week with the founding team, plus potentially travel to customer sites The reasonably estimated yearly salary for this role is: $140,000—$200,000 USD As an equal opportunity employer, we don't tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind.

Whether that's based on race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, citizenship, religion, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy, veteran status or any other protected characteristic as outlined by federal, state or local laws. Interested in this role? Submit your application and we'll be in touch.
