Senior Structural EngineerLocation: Edinburgh or GlasgowWorking Pattern: HybridSector: Building Structures, Infrastructure & EngineeringThe OpportunityAre you a Chartered Structural Engineer looking for a role where you can work on a genuinely diverse range of projects, take ownership of technical delivery and continue developing your career?We are working with a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Building Structures team in Edinburgh or Glasgow.You'll have the opportunity to work on projects across Scotland and the wider UK, delivering innovative, sustainable and technically challenging engineering solutions across a broad range of sectors.The project portfolio includes aviation, education, healthcare, residential, energy, transport, public infrastructure, industrial and defence, giving you the chance to broaden your experience rather than being tied to a single sector.You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design, construction support, site inspections and assessment of existing assets.The RoleAs a Senior Structural Engineer, you'll take an active role in the technical delivery of a diverse range of building structures projects.Your responsibilities will include:Developing structural concepts through to detailed design.Applying your technical expertise across a range of building structures and design scenarios.Designing structures using traditional materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry.Delivering projects within agreed programme, cost and quality requirements.Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.Undertaking technical research, data collection and analysis.Preparing and presenting technical findings and solutions to clients and project stakeholders.Producing high-quality technical reports and design documentation.Attending site visits, inspections and design team meetings.Supporting technical reviews and assessments of existing buildings and assets.Ensuring compliance with relevant quality assurance procedures.Working in accordance with BIM standards and project-specific digital delivery requirements.Supporting, mentoring and developing junior and less experienced engineers.Taking responsibility for elements of project delivery appropriate to your experience.Contributing to the development of new and innovative engineering approaches.About YouYou'll be a technically strong and proactive Structural Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and working collaboratively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.EssentialDegree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.Chartered status with IStructE, ICE or an equivalent professional body - essential.Strong experience working as a Structural Engineer within a consultancy or similar environment.Experience designing structures using steel, concrete, timber and/or masonry.Good knowledge and practical application of Eurocodes.Experience working on building structures projects.Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage your own workload.A flexible and versatile approach, with an interest in both design and technical advisory work.A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for sharing ideas and knowledge.DesirableExperience with structural analysis and design software such as:Tekla Structural DesignerRobotRevitAn interest in digital engineering, automation and parametric design would also be advantageous, alongside a willingness to learn and adopt emerging technologies.Project ExperienceThe breadth of work means you could have the opportunity to contribute to projects involving:Aviation and airport infrastructureEducation and university developmentsHealthcareResidential and housingEnergy networks and substationsTransport infrastructurePublic sector projec
