To Apply for this Job Click Here We’re partnering with a well-established and growing organization in the Nisku area to recruit an experienced Senior Bookkeeper. This is a hands-on, full-cycle accounting role supporting a diverse portfolio of companies across commercial real estate, energy, manufacturing and other businesses. The organization is actively growing through acquisitions and currently oversees many subsidiary companies.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in accurate work and wants to be part of a small, collaborative accounting team. This position will start as a 3 month contract, fully onsite in Nisku, with potential to turn into a permanent role. What You’ll Be Doing Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for approximately 9–12 companies. Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial information.
Complete bank reconciliations, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Maintain fixed asset schedules and prepare depreciation calculations. Complete intercompany transactions and reconciliations. Prepare GST/PST reporting, payments and registrations. Support government and WCB compliance and reporting. Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures. Review accounts, investigate discrepancies and respond to financial reporting inquiries.
Handle foreign exchange calculations related to banking, AP, AR and intercompany transactions. Provide vacation coverage for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable when required. Run full cycle payroll for some of the smaller companies, manage payroll journal entries, accruals and related balance sheet reconciliations as required. Assist with process improvements and accounting procedures as the organization continues to grow.
Support additional accounting projects and responsibilities as required. What We’re Looking For 5+ years of hands-on, full-cycle accounting or senior bookkeeping experience. Accounting diploma, bookkeeping certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with commercial property accounting is strongly preferred. Experience handling accounting for multiple companies or legal entities is required.
Strong knowledge of bank and account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end and financial reporting. Working knowledge of GAAP/ASPE. Understanding of foreign exchange calculations and transactions. Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Sage and QuickBooks Desktop/Online experience is an asset. Experience with accounting for US companies is a strong asset. AutoPoint or Journey experience would be highly valued.
Ceridian or other payroll experience is an asset.
