Surgical Technologist Certified Assignment Duration This is a 13-week contract position. Schedule Variable shifts; 3 allowed forced calls per contract. Job Description The Surgical Technologist Certified functions in the role of scrub person. Works under the supervision of the surgeon and the R.N. to ensure that the O.R. environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

Responsibilities Assemble and maintain sterile supplies and instruments before and during surgical procedures. Communicate clearly with operating room staff and sterile processing staff members to coordinate instrumentation throughout the day for scheduled and non-scheduled cases. Review daily schedule with the charge nurse and day coordinator of sterile processing identifying possible turnover delays and scheduling issues.

Delegate duties accordingly and coordinate breaks and lunches with appropriate individuals. Act as a resource for the departments of SPD and Surgical Services for the procurement of necessary items, both supply and instrumentation. Coordinate with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure High School Diploma or Equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program.

American Heart Association BLS certification. Certified Surgical Technologist preferred; 1 year surgical technologist experience in acute care operating room preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment. Strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Demonstrates sound judgement, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times.
