Technical Specialist – UG Auto Electrical

Underground Auto Electrician Technical Specialist   The Company   Globe 24-7 is partnering with a leading global gold mining company. The operation is an underground mine focused on safe, efficient production and equipment reliability. The Role   The Underground Auto Electrician Specialist will provide advanced maintenance and repair support across underground heavy mining equipment with Remote Control Technology (RCT).

The role will also coach and develop national auto-electricians, ensuring compliance with OEM standards and safe, efficient equipment performance. The Key Responsibilities   Deliver specialist maintenance and repair support for underground heavy mining equipment, with emphasis on RCT systems. Diagnose faults and undertake repairs on remote control and electrical systems. Provide hands-on coaching, skills transfer, and progress reporting for national auto-electricians.

Conduct diagnostic electrical testing and advise the UG Engineering Superintendent on technical issues. Guide technicians on repairs of vehicles and plant, including petrol and diesel equipment. Coordinate parts requirements with planners and liaise with agents/manufacturers to resolve issues. Complete inspection sheets and related documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Identify repairs related to unfair wear and tear and escalate appropriately.

Qualifications & Experience   Recognized trade certificate in Auto Electrical work and Air Conditioning and Radio Communication. Preferred trainer/coach qualification (certification/Diploma). 8 – 10+ years’ underground heavy mining equipment maintenance experience. Experience with maintenance strategies for underground equipment. Demonstrable coaching and training experience. Extensive experience with RCT systems.

Ability to repair and maintain a wide range of mobile and stationary equipment. Safe, accountable operation of tools and equipment; adherence to approved work methods. Effective English communication and ability to maintain daily logs. Safety focus, teamwork and leadership, analytical ability, job knowledge, and supervision. Budgeting/cost control, stress and time management, and strong decision-making for safe, efficient work.
