We are representing a client operating in the advanced manufacturing sector, supporting customers across aerospace, defense, commercial, and government programs. They are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical support across advanced manufacturing operations, customer and program engineering, quoting and CAM activities, technical documentation, manufacturing readiness, and project execution.

This opportunity is suited to a mid-career engineer with strong engineering fundamentals, practical CAD/CAM experience, and an interest in metal laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing and laser welding technologies. Role Overview The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Materials & Processes, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Business Development, and Program Management teams.

The role will involve translating customer requirements into practical and manufacturable solutions, supporting feasibility assessments, DfAM/DFM activities, build preparation, quotations, technical customer responses, production-readiness documentation, and program deliverables. Key Responsibilities Provide technical support for additive manufacturing and welding equipment, including electrical, mechanical, cooling, and gas systems.

Assist with optimizing equipment performance, productivity, and reliability. Work alongside engineering and operations teams during equipment installation, commissioning, start-up, and maintenance activities. Train and support personnel on the basic operation of manufacturing equipment and associated peripheral systems. Participate in DfAM and DFM assessments, including build orientation, support strategies, material and process selection, post-processing considerations, inspection feasibility, and manufacturing limitations.

Identify and communicate technical, cost, schedule, and manufacturability risks to relevant engineering, quality, production, or program leadership. Support the development of additive manufacturing solutions for customer components, assemblies, prototypes, production hardware, qualification builds, and program requirements. Review customer drawings, CAD models, specifications, technical documentation, and statements of work to identify requirements, assumptions, gaps, and potential technical risks.

Contribute to quotation packages, CAM-related activities, technical responses, manufacturing documentation, and production-readiness initiatives. Support cross-functional project execution and help ensure manufacturing deliverables remain technically and commercially viable. Candidate Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Welding Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may also be considered.

Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on industrial equipment. Experience setting up and configuring computer hardware and software. Ability to interpret and work from electrical schematics. Experience with 3D printing/additive manufacturing is preferred, particularly Metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion. Practical experience with welding and industrial automation systems within a manufacturing environment.

CAD software experience. Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Comfortable working independently and managing priorities in a demanding environment. Willingness to travel when required. Location: California, United States
