Oliver James is partnering with a global insurance organization that's seeking a Senior Investment Accountant to join its growing team. This position offers exposure to a diverse investment portfolio and accounting framework along with access to key stakeholders across finance, asset management, and third-party service providers. The ideal candidate will support investment accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, regulatory submissions, and various process-improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Analyze, reconcile, and balance monthly investment accounting data received from external service providers. Compile and validate investment interface files, investigate discrepancies, and resolve reconciling items within established deadlines. Maintain the accuracy and completeness of information submitted to global investment databases. Coordinate with third-party accounting providers, asset managers, internal data teams, and senior finance stakeholders.
Prepare monthly and quarterly variance analyses and perform reasonableness checks on investment-related financial data. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual investment reporting, including financial statement footnotes and disclosures. Assist with regulatory, management, and rating-agency reporting requirements. Review and maintain supporting documentation for internal and external audits. Support investment reporting across US GAAP, STAT, and IFRS.
Partner with investment accounting leadership on special projects, process enhancements, and other time-sensitive deliverables. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may also be considered. Relevant experience within insurance, investment accounting, financial reporting, or audit. Strong understanding of US GAAP and STAT investment accounting principles.
Familiarity with IFRS reporting is preferred. CPA and/or MBA credentials are advantageous. Experience working with investment accounting platforms such as Clearwater, CAMRA, PAM or comparable systems. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to communicate financial information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
