This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller looking to take ownership of a busy customer ledger and join an established and supportive finance team. Reporting to the Senior Credit Controller, you will play a key role in managing customer accounts, proactively collecting outstanding debt and supporting the business in maintaining a strong cash flow position. The successful Credit Controller will be confident communicating with customers, resolving account queries and taking a proactive approach to reducing aged debt.
Credit Controller Responsibilities Managing a portfolio of customer accounts and taking ownership of the full Credit Control process Proactively chasing outstanding invoices by telephone, email and written correspondence Allocating customer payments and maintaining accurate sales ledger records Reconciling customer accounts and investigating discrepancies Resolving invoice, payment and account queries promptly and effectively Monitoring customer credit limits, payment performance and agreed payment terms Carrying out credit checks and supporting the setup of new customer accounts Producing aged debt reports and escalating high-risk or overdue accounts where appropriate Preparing and issuing customer statements and payment reminders Building strong relationships with customers to encourage timely payment Working closely with internal departments to resolve invoicing and payment issues Supporting month-end reporting and wider finance processes Assisting with debt recovery procedures where required Identifying opportunities to improve Credit Control processes and reduce aged debt Credit Controller Experience Required To be successful in your application, you must have the following: Previous experience within a Credit Controller, Credit Control or Accounts Receivable position, ideally with 2+ years’ experience Proven experience managing a busy customer ledger Strong understanding of Credit Control processes and aged debt Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills Experience resolving invoice, payment and customer account queries Strong Microsoft Excel skills Experience using accounting or finance systems Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Ability to prioritise a busy workload and consistently meet deadlines A proactive, commercially aware and results-focused approach Desirable: Experience using Sage, Xero or similar accounting systems Experience managing customer credit limits and carrying out credit checks Experience working with a multi-entity customer ledger Experience supporting external debt recovery processes Previous experience working within a high-volume Credit Control environment What’s on Offer?
