This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller to join a stable and well-run finance team, taking responsibility for managing customer accounts, collecting outstanding debt and supporting the business in maintaining a strong cash flow position. The successful Credit Controller will be confident dealing with customers, negotiating payment arrangements and managing debt recovery processes, while maintaining accurate financial records and providing a high level of customer service.
Credit Controller Responsibilities Managing a portfolio of customer accounts and taking ownership of the full Credit Control process Proactively chasing outstanding and overdue payments by telephone, email and written correspondence Reviewing customer credit applications and assessing creditworthiness Setting appropriate credit limits and payment terms Negotiating payment plans and repayment arrangements with customers Monitoring customer accounts and ensuring payments are received within agreed terms Following up outstanding debts and taking appropriate action where required Supporting debt recovery processes, including liaising with solicitors and bailiffs Maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer account records Processing and reconciling invoices and customer payments Posting receipts and payments to the accounting system Preparing and issuing customer statements Responding to customer queries relating to invoices, payments and accounts Monitoring credit risk and escalating high-risk or overdue accounts where appropriate Supporting improvements to Credit Control processes and systems Working closely with internal teams to resolve payment and account queries Ensuring credit issued by the business is collected in full and on time Supporting wider finance duties when required Credit Controller Experience Required To be successful in your application, you must have the following: Previous experience working within a Credit Controller, Credit Control or Accounts Receivable position Proven experience managing customer accounts and collecting outstanding debt Good understanding of Credit Control and debt recovery processes Strong negotiation and communication skills Experience dealing with payment queries and negotiating repayment plans Excellent customer service skills Strong attention to detail and analytical ability Excellent verbal and written communication skills Persistence and determination when chasing outstanding debt Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with difficult situations Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook Experience using Sage 50 Accounts Desirable: Previous Purchase Ledger experience Experience working within a high-volume Credit Control environment Experience supporting debt recovery or legal proceedings Previous experience implementing or improving Credit Control processes Experience with credit assessments and customer credit ratings What’s on Offer?
