LEONARDO DEL VECCHIO EYE CARE CENTER OF EXCELLENCE JOB DESCRIPTION Position Information Position Title: IT Project Manager Department: IT and Systems Duty Station: Kigali, Rwanda Employment Type: Short-Term Contract (6 months) Reports To: IT and Systems Manager Direct Reports: None Functional Oversight: Hospital departments, system vendors, implementation partners and project stakeholders About the Organization The Leonardo Del Vecchio Eye Care Centre of Excellence is a specialised teaching eye hospital dedicated to delivering high-quality, accessible and sustainable eye care.
The Centre integrates clinical services, education, research and innovation to strengthen Rwanda’s national eye health system and serve as a regional reference centre for excellence in eye care. Purpose of the Role The Systems Implementation Project Manager will lead the coordination of the hospital’s key digital systems implementation – HIS, Hospital Information System, with the focus on the PAS – Patient Administrative System (OpenClinic GA), EMR – Electronic Medical Record (MediSIGHT), instruments integration and eventually other 3 rd part software involved in the project.
The role will coordinate the hospital, IT team, vendors and users to ensure that systems are appropriately configured, integrated, tested, accepted and ready for Go-Live. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain the overall systems implementation plan, timelines, milestones and action tracker. Coordinate the HIS implementation teams and the overall system integration Coordinate validation of key clinical and administrative workflows and system configurations.
Manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) including test planning, issue tracking and user sign-off. Coordinate user training and Go-Live readiness Perform other project-related responsibilities necessary to support successful hospital systems implementation. Key Deliverables Approved systems implementation plan and project schedule. Validated clinical and administrative workflows. Successfully implemented and integrated EMR systems.
Completed UAT and formal user sign-off. Completed user training and Go-Live readiness assessment. Coordinated and supported successful Go-Live. Complete project, system, workflow, training and handover documentation. Post-Go-Live support, issue resolution, system stabilisation and handover to the IT & Systems team. Qualifications & Experience Education Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Project Management or a related field.
Experience At least 5 years’ experience in IT or systems implementation, with demonstrated experience managing EMR/HIS or healthcare technology projects. Experience coordinating multiple vendors and implementation teams. Experience in requirements gathering, workflow validation, UAT, training and Go-Live. Experience with systems integration and interoperability is highly desirable.
Healthcare, hospital or health information systems experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of HL7, APIs and healthcare system integration is an advantage. Experience with OpenClinic GA and/or MediSIGHT is an advantage but not mandatory. Professional Certifications – Desirable Relevant professional certifications are considered an advantage, including: PMP certification (recommended) Relevant Health Informatics certification ( recommended ) Foundation knowledge of PRINCE2 and Agile methodologies (Scrum).
