SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH Specialist) - Plymouth (Supply) Are you an empathetic, resilient SEN Teaching Assistant looking for flexible work in Plymouth? We are currently recruiting dedicated SEMH Specialists to support children and young people across local primary and secondary schools in the area on a day-to-day supply basis. In this role, you will work closely with pupils who face Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, acting as a trusted mentor to help them build confidence, regulate their emotions, and succeed in the classroom environment. Responsibilities Learning Strategies: Help pupils access the curriculum by adapting tasks, implementing tailored learning strategies, and encouraging independent learning.

Behaviour Support: Use proactive de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours and create a calm, structured environment conducive to learning. Emotional Regulation: Act as a trusted adult, supporting pupils with developing social skills, self-regulation, and essential coping strategies. Classroom Collaboration: Work alongside class teachers and SENCOs to deliver targeted support plans and track vital pupil progress.

Qualifications Previous experience supporting children or young adults with SEMH, EBD, or complex SEN needs. Strong behaviour management skills with a patient, non-judgemental, and adaptable approach. Training in Team-Teach or price/de-escalation strategies is highly desirable, but not essential. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one). What do we offer Flexibility: Work the days that fit your schedule with regular day-to-day placements.

Competitive Pay: Paid via PAYE at £92.56 - £95.00 per day. Schedule: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday). Local Impact: Support mainstream and specialist schools right here in Plymouth.
