Med/Tele Registered Nurse (RN) Position Overview The Med/Tele Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment. The role focuses on delivering comprehensive care to adults and geriatrics with various medical conditions, particularly cardiac issues. Unit Information Number of Beds: 32 Nurse:Patient Ratio: 1:4-5, occasional 5-6 on nights PCU Level Care: Overflow on the unit 1:3 Common Diagnoses Cardiac caths EP studies Pacemakers Alcohol withdrawal COVID-19 with BiPAP General surgical patients with cardiac history Medical patients with pneumonia, acute on chronic conditions, influenza, and sepsis Required Skills and Experience PCU experience with the ability to read cardiac strips Experience with tele/cardiac nursing Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system (preferred) Ability to titrate intravenous medications including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, and Lasix Comfort in troubleshooting respiratory equipment (e.g., BiPAP, trach management) Team Structure Charge Nurse on each shift who may take a light patient load Nurse Aids/Patient Care Technicians with a target ratio of 1:10 Tele/Monitor Technicians available for support at the nurse’s station Shifts and Scheduling Shifts: 7a-7p, 7p-7a Rotating shifts may occur, but not more than once weekly Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday Floating Requirements: May float to other areas as needed for patient care Orientation and Training Unit-specific orientation includes 2 shifts (12 hours each) Orientation occurs on the first weekend with independent practice starting the following Sunday Dress Code Scrubs of any color are permitted; scrubs are not provided.
