Registered Nurse (RN) – Mother-Baby/Postpartum General Information Location: City, State Beds: 23 Minimum Experience: 1 year of Mother-Baby/Postpartum experience and at least 2 years as a Registered Nurse First-Time Travelers Accepted: Yes Patient Care Overview Responsibilities include care for postpartum and low-risk antepartum patients with the ability to manage: Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 for Antepartum or couplets Breastfeeding assistance Newborn care including vital signs, thermoregulation, managing hypoglycemia, bilirubin levels, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) babies Performing newborn lab work and phlebotomy IV skills (adult) Experience with PKU testing Independently care for 3-4 couplets Provide discharge teaching and vaccinations for neonates Conduct thorough assessments and reassessments for mothers and babies Perform fundal checks on postpartum patients Unit Support Receptionist/HUC: Available 7 days a week with evening coverage until 0100, 4 days a week Charge Nurse: Present in assignments with lower patient ratios Lactation Nurses: Available from 0730-1600, 7 days a week Phlebotomy Services: Available Clinical Nursing Assistants: 2 on days and 2 on nights (typically in charge role) RT: Available 24/7 Hospitalist/OB: In-house 24/7 Anesthesia: In-house 24/7 Technology and Equipment EMR: EPIC preferred IV Pumps: Alaris Medication Dispensing: Pyxis Floating Opportunities Possible floating to Labor and Delivery (LD) and NICU.
Duties may include antepartum or recovery and care for NAS and feeder grower babies.
