Position Summary The Senior Revenue Accountant role is responsible for ensuring revenue is recognized accurately and in compliance with applicable accounting standards, including ASC 606, and other pertinent statutory rules. This role partners closely with Finance, Sales Operations, Legal, Order Management, and Business Operations to review customer contracts, assess revenue implications, support month-end close activities, and maintain strong internal controls.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with complex commercial arrangements. Key Responsibilities Review customer contracts, amendments, statements of work, and related documentation to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606. Analyze contractual arrangements and identify performance obligations, transaction pricing, allocation methodologies, and timing of revenue recognition.
Prepare and maintain revenue recognition schedules and supporting documentation. Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including revenue journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external audit requirements. Assist with preparation of revenue-related disclosures and audit support requests. Investigate and resolve revenue-related discrepancies, system issues, and contract interpretation questions.
Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives that enhance efficiency and accuracy within the revenue accounting function. Support implementation and maintenance of revenue accounting systems and related integrations. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 2–5 years of experience in revenue accounting, revenue recognition, or general accounting.
Strong understanding of ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles. Experience reviewing customer contracts and interpreting commercial terms. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain accounting concepts to non-finance stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Preferred CA/CPA certification or progress toward CA/CPA. Experience in SaaS, software, technology, telecommunications, or subscription-based business models. Experience with ERP systems, specifically in NetSuite and Oracle highly preferred. Experience supporting external audits and SOX compliance environments.
