What We Offer Join the Novant Health East Cooper Medical Center team as a Lactation Consultant! In this role, you will serve as the clinical expert in managing the breastfeeding mother-baby dyad. Your expertise will support families from normal newborn deliveries to complex neonatal and post-surgical feeding cases, ensuring an inclusive, empowering environment for all new parents. Location: Novant Health East Cooper Medical Center Address: 2000 Hospital Dr., Mt Pleasant, SC 29464 Schedule: 4 8-hour shifts starting by 8:30am.

What You'll Do Clinical Assessments: Conduct comprehensive lactation assessments by reviewing maternal/infant medical histories, evaluating milk transfer, observing latch/positioning, and monitoring infant weight patterns.
Care Planning: Develop, implement, and document evidence-based, individualized feeding plans that address complex breastfeeding challenges. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with floor RNs, Pediatricians, Obstetricians, and Neonatologists to ensure continuity of care and safe discharge planning. Patient Education: Provide high-quality, culturally sensitive one-on-one bedside coaching, teach outpatient breastfeeding classes, and facilitate community support groups.
Supply Management: Educate families on the proper selection, assembly, and sanitization of breast pumps, specialized feeding tools, and donor milk options. What We're Looking For Education : High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Experience : Minimum of one year of experience in mother/baby care or breast feeding education, required.
Licensure/Certification: Current IBCLC certification, required. Current RN licensure in appropriate state, preferred. Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Excellent customer service skills. Why Choose Novant Health?
