What We Offer Patient Access Specialist Lead (Fulltime) Location: Novant Health Matthews Medical Center Shift: Monday - Thursday | 7:00AM - 4:00PM, Friday 7:00am-2:00pm     Responsible for supporting the department’s daily operations and promoting quality, productivity, and efficiency. Assists department leadership with day-to-day operational activities, including staff assignments, patient access processes, and workflow coordination.

Provides guidance and support to staff as needed to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. What You'll Do Responsible for the timely and accurate collection and documentation of patient demographics, insurance information, patient charges, and payments. Coordinates and schedules patient appointments while ensuring accurate and efficient patient access processes. Cross-training in multiple administrative support functions is required to provide flexibility and continuity of departmental operations.

What We're Looking For   Education High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred. Experience Minimum of one year of experience in patient access, registration, billing, cash collections, insurance, or a related healthcare environment required. Experience with patient placement, financial counseling, Main Admitting, or Emergency Department operations preferred.

Demonstrated ability to successfully complete general and department-specific competency assessments preferred. Licensure/Certification Completion of the Novant Health Revenue Cycle University program preferred. Professional certification from a related leadership-level organization, such as the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), preferred.

Additional Skills and Qualifications Knowledge of insurance, billing, and applicable regulatory and governing standards, policies, and procedures. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, registration systems, and other computer applications. Knowledge and application of safety and infection prevention and control policies and procedures. Ability to develop learning plans, provide and receive constructive feedback, and coach and counsel staff.

Demonstrated skills in staffing and scheduling, delegation, team building, decision-making, conflict resolution, and change management. Ability to monitor customer feedback and identify opportunities to improve core processes and the patient experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals across diverse age groups, cultures, backgrounds, and educational levels.

Ability to lead and support a team while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and standards. Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively coordinate and manage assigned shifts. Ability to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the department and support staff development. Ability to travel to and work at multiple locations/facilities as needed.
