Your future team You will lead an engineering team within Atlassian’s Jira Service Management (JSM) - IT Operations organization—one of our fastest-growing cloud portfolios and a recognized leader in the modern ITSM/ITOM market. Our team is on a mission to transform how engineering and IT teams detect, respond to, resolve, and prevent incidents at enterprise scale. We build and run mission-critical, high-throughput, and highly reliable services (powering alerting, on-call scheduling, incident orchestration, and mobile experiences) that thousands of global organizations depend on 24/7.
You’ll be part of a distributed, highly collaborative triad (Engineering, Product, and Design). We value technical excellence, operational rigor, and continuous innovation—including modern agentic workflows and automated testing—to ship world-class experiences at high velocity. Responsibilities In this role, you will Be responsible for high-quality software delivery, grow individuals and groom leaders on the team and contribute to architecture Partner closely with Product and Design to define roadmaps, shape customer‑centric solutions, and measure impact Identify blockers, goals, success metrics ensuring awareness, OKR/roadmap awareness, and expectations Guide technical and architectural decisions, balancing speed, reliability, and long‑term maintainability Provide clear direction, coaching, and feedback, and build an inclusive, high‑performing team culture Your background 12+ years of experience managing software engineers, including leading high‑performing teams in production environments Strong technical background with recent hands‑on coding experience; you understand how to design, review, and debug production systems and can still write code when needed Experience building and operating large‑scale, cloud‑based web or SaaS products (e.g.
microservices, distributed systems) Proven track record of partnering with Product Management and Design to deliver customer‑facing features end‑to‑end Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in a distributed, cross‑functional environment Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience Qualifications At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs.
