As the Sr. Electrical Design Engineer, you will design and analyze complex data-processing, communication, and electrical systems used in our radiation detection products. Working with a cross-functional team, you will conduct research, develop test methods, design custom printed circuit boards, and provide production and field support as needed. You will also provide technical guidance to junior electrical engineers and interns and help establish and share engineering best practices across the team.
Responsibilities Work within a cross-functional engineering team environment to support the development and sustainment of radiation detection products. Develop electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, interconnects, assembly drawings. Release designs into the company’s PLM systems via engineering Change order and established workflow. Design and develop embedded digital and analog circuits for Radiation Detection Products.
Circuits may include components such as field programmable gate arrays, embedded microcontrollers, high voltage circuitry for photomultiplier tubes, low noise front ends, and analog-to-digital converters. Design data-processing and communication circuitries to facilitate communication between various subsystems and external equipment. Develop, review, update, modify, and approve electrical design plans, circuits, system designs.
Develop Proof of Concept prototype circuits to support design verification. Research emerging technologies, components, and design methods relevant to radiation detection products. Troubleshoot electrical systems and printed circuit boards to the component level to identify root cause. Collaborate with field service, manufacturing, and external customers to diagnose electrical issues, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and support implementation and verification through the continuous improvement process.
Mentor junior members of the team and assist in their development through design review, technical coaching, and sharing best practices and knowledge.
