Electrical Field Service Engineer Location: Ohio-Based | Travel: 75%+ Department: Field Service Job Type: Full-Time Position Overview Seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain critical electrical power distribution equipment used in data center environments. This is a hands-on field position for a dependable technician who can work independently, solve technical problems, and communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.

What You’ll Do Install, start up, test, and commission power distribution systems Verify system operation and perform functional testing Configure and troubleshoot HMIs and control interfaces Diagnose electrical issues involving 3-phase power systems, transformers, high-voltage components, and switchgear/distribution equipment Troubleshoot systems systematically and identify root causes in live infrastructure environments Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and mechanical drawings Follow applicable electrical codes and safety requirements Act as the onsite technical contact and coordinate with engineering and internal teams Train customer operators and maintenance personnel Communicate system conditions, findings, and next steps clearly through conversations, emails, and service reports Document service activities, labor hours, parts usage, and technical findings in the company system Identify recurring problems and recommend improvements to products and service processes Assist with service procedures, technical documentation, training materials, and internal knowledge resources Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Required: 3–7+ years of experience in field service, electrical service, or a similar technical role Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities Working knowledge of 24V, 120V, and 480V systems Basic PLC troubleshooting experience Knowledge of fuses, breakers, and transformers Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings Willingness to travel 75%+ , including occasional short-notice travel Valid driver's license Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills Preferred: Experience working with data center power infrastructure Familiarity with switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs , or similar equipment Previous commissioning support experience OSHA certification or formal safety training Ideal Candidate Reliable and comfortable solving problems independently Professional and composed in customer-facing environments Detail-oriented and accountable for completed work Collaborative and responsive when working with engineering and field teams Committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement Apply Today If you’re a hands-on technician looking for a high-impact field role, we’d love to hear from you.
