Position Summary The Senior Revenue Accountant performs revenue recognition analysis and accounting activities to support accurate invoicing, revenue recording, financial reporting, and compliance with company policy. This role reviews customer contracts, evaluates revenue recognition conclusions, monitors deferred and unbilled revenue, prepares revenue-related journal entries and reconciliations, and completes month-end and quarter-end close activities.
The position partners with Sales, Legal, Account Management, Project Management, Sales Operations, and business teams to resolve revenue questions, support contract proposal approvals, strengthen internal controls, and improve cross-functional processes. Key Responsibilities Review signed customer contracts and related documentation to determine and document appropriate revenue recognition conclusions, including assessments for assigned regions or channels.
Perform the monthly revenue recognition accounting process, including revenue posting, preparation of revenue-related journal entries, deferred cost adjustments, and completion of revenue account reconciliations. Analyze deferred revenue and unbilled revenue reconciliations, revenue variances, and revenue-related reports; investigate and resolve identified issues. Perform and document standalone selling price (SSP) compliance reviews and related analyses.
Complete month-end and quarter-end close activities, including contract reviews, variance analysis, management reporting, and other revenue-related close support. Coordinate with Revenue Accounting leadership, Sales Management, Account Management, Project Management, Legal, Sales Operations, and business units to analyze activities affecting license, services, and other revenue streams. Provide revenue recognition guidance and respond to accounting questions from cross-functional stakeholders.
Prepare quarterly audit schedules and gather revenue data, documentation, and supporting evidence for internal and external auditors. Assess and follow internal controls related to revenue recognition and accounting operations to support compliance with company policies and SOX requirements. Assist in developing and implementing cross-functional process improvements that increase productivity, consistency, and efficiency.
Participate in cross-functional initiatives as a revenue recognition subject matter expert in support of business, regulatory, system, and operational changes. Participate in ad hoc revenue projects and perform other duties as assigned. Understand and adhere to all corporate policies, including the ACI Code of Ethics and Global Information Security requirements. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting , Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Five or more years of accounting, finance, or related professional experience. Working knowledge of revenue accounting and revenue recognition principles. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to managers, peers, and business partners.
Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders and meet demanding close deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Software revenue recognition or revenue accounting experience, including knowledge of ASC 606. Experience reviewing customer contracts and supporting revenue documentation.
