Description Exercise Control (EXCON)-A (Academics) Primary Location: Quantico, VA Must be a U.S Citizen Security Clearance: TS/SCI Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking an EXCON-A to support the design and management of Marine Air Ground Task Force Staff Training Program (MSTP) exercises, training events, wargames, and exercises, training events in which MSTP participates. EXCON-A reports to the MSTP Project Manager and receives work direction from the EXCON Section head.
Essential duties: The mission of the MSTP is to provide training in MAGTFs across the range of military operations, within the context of a Joint and/or Combined Task Force environment, to improve the warfighting skills, with the main effort of providing training support. Essential Duties Serves as Lead Contractor for planning and execution of practical planning exercises in support of the USMC School of Advanced Warfighting ( SAW ), the US Army School for Advanced Military Studies ( SAMS ), and USMC General Officer Warfighting Program ( GOWP ).
Provide professional, administrative and management support Manages, supervises, and coordinates the efforts of contractor personnel in development of scenarios, concepts, products, and other deliverables that may be specified to support scenario development and event design for Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) and joint/combined exercises. Works closely with the Exercise Design Branch and the MSTP Exercise Control Officer in setting up and conducting all exercise planning conferences Acts in an advisory capacity to the Exercise Control Officer Attends conferences and meetings at the resident site and other locations off site Works closely with MSTP Operations and the Exercise Design Branch Head for the planning, development, and execution of Marine Expeditionary Force/Brigade Exercises (MEFEX/MEBEX) and Large-Scale Exercises (LSEs) Recommends travel plans to support events away from the MSTP site Assist with exercise information, systems training/familiarization, and role-playing responsibilities.
Communicates and coordinates with all the exercise control agencies in scenario and exercise development: Battle Management, Exercise Intelligence Cell, Higher and Adjacent Headquarters, Adversary Force Branch, Modeling and Simulations Branch, and Communications and Information Systems Branch Selected personnel will have an adjudicated clearance and access up to TS/SCI security clearance; all others will require at least a minimum of Secret security clearance and access.
Must be read-in for NATO level access Senior staff planning experience in the Joint Operations Planning Process and the Marine Corps Planning Process at the Marine Division, Wing, or MLG staff Experience conducting tactical and operational level planning at the conceptual, functional, and detailed levels for service and functional component organizations, as well as joint headquarters organizations; capable of applying the Intelligence Cycle, Intelligence Preparation of the Battlespace, and Joint Intelligence Preparation of the Operating Environment processes Completion of an appropriate level of professional military education such as Intermediate/Top Level School (ILS/TLS) Knowledge of, and operational experience, deploying and employing ground combat, aviation, supporting arms, and combat service support units and related equipment; and knowledge of, and operational experience, with military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships at the operational command level and in the tactical employment of Marine Corps and joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance assets Desired Skills/Qualifications Mid-Level – bachelor’s degree or equivalent w/ 3+ Years Direct Relevant Experience Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook skills Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills Physical Requirements and Work Environment Normal Office Environment Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintai
