About the Role We are seeking a Technical Writer Editor II to review manuscripts, publications text, tables, figures, and supplementary materials for file type, completeness, accuracy of medical and scientific terminology, and conformity.  This is a fully remote position; candidates must be based and reside in the United States. This position is contingent upon contract award.  Responsibilities Receive and assess reports submitted for publication.

Develop, document, and maintain production schedules based on fixed publication deadlines. Establish, track, and communicate project milestones from report initiation through final dissemination. Monitor workflow using approved job tracking systems and file retention in accordance with established procedures. Perform substantive and technical editing of complex and highly visible scientific reports using electronic editing software, including Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe InCopy.

Provide expertise in style guides.  Ensure compliance with style guides and plain language standards. Review and correct materials for accuracy and appropriate use of medical and scientific terminology. Edit and format narrative text, tables, figures, references, graphics, and supplementary materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness. Serve as the primary liaison between authors and production staff throughout the editorial and production process.

Consolidate, communicate, and reconcile reviewer comments. Consult with and advise authors regarding recommended edits, required revisions, and publication requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals on publishing matters such as layout and design, corrections, 508 remediation, and web posting. Track and manage corrections through final approval to ensure accuracy and version control.

Ensure deliverables are transmitted, stored, and archived in accordance with established recordkeeping and electronic file management procedures.  Coordinate and manage the web posting process in accordance with web standards and established procedures. Verify accuracy and functionality of published online content, including links, tables, figures, and downloadable materials. Support submission and indexing of published reports in Stacks and PubMed.

Ensure required metadata and documentation are complete and accurate. Meet daily and weekly production deadlines for editing, review, clearance, and publication milestones while adhering to established SOPs. Actively participate in recurring team meetings and other staff meetings as required. Requirements Required Experience and Skills 3 years of professional writing and editing experience focused on health communications.  Demonstrated expertise in technical editing, proofreading, and producing clear, accurate data-focused content for diverse audiences, with strong attention to detail and adherence to style guidelines.  Proficiency in required software tools, including Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat; familiarity with PerfectIt and Adobe InCopy preferred.  Solid project management experience, including establishing and enforcing timelines, coordinating with authors and production teams, managing revisions, and serving as a liaison to ensure deliverables meet quality and deadline expectations.

Ability to obtain government clearance. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.   Education and Training Bachelor’s degree
