Description PRIMARY PURPOSE The Manager of Permissions & Royalties plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of OCP’s Music Publishing division by aiding in its ability to exploit the copyrights owned and administered by OCP to the fullest extent possible. This position is responsible for ensuring that the key copyright information upon which the copyright catalogue is built, specifically song title, music ID, ownership, share breakdown, and vendor information is accurate and complete.

This person will be responsible for overseeing expansion for the optimization and growth of OCP’s copyright administration services. They are an integral participant in the development and execution of new and updated contracts between OCP and composers/songwriters, artists, publishers/labels and other third parties to help ensure OCP is in line with industry standards and prevailing royalty rates.

Additionally, the Manager of Permissions & Royalties will be instrumental in the testing, implementation, and ongoing oversight of any new systems and tools, including the utilization of artificial intelligence, to aid in process improvement and increased efficiency for OCP, along with providing documentation and training necessary for on-going users. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Proactively seek opportunities for increasing copyright revenue and expanding our customer reach.

Actively network and represent OCP within the publishing administration industry and among industry stakeholders. Responsible for the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of the key copyright information maintained within or used by the royalty system, copyright database, licensing platform, OCP Publishing websites, payables system and ERP. Supervise personnel performing Permissions, Contract and Royalty functions for OCP.

Establish, document, train, and maintain clear processes for timely and accurate entry of contract and copyright data in the appropriate systems or data warehouses. Establish, document, train and maintain clear processes relating to licensing OCP copyrights and recordings via manual requests or licensing platforms. Supervise the administration of Master Lease Agreements; Recording Producer Agreements; Author Agreements; Artwork Agreements and other special contracts negotiated within the various OCP verticals.

Review periodic royalty reports to verify that payments are consistent with contracts and appear reasonable. Collaborate with Label Group, Products, Shared Services and other departments within Music Publishing to update processes to help ensure proper notification, handoff and validation of necessary information relative to contracts, permissions, copyrights and licenses for the appropriate calculation and payment or receipt of royalties or licenses and the relevant documentation, as needed.

Serve as subject matter expert in royalties and permissions, and provide royalty expertise for new product ideas, new label activities and new publishing projects. Coordinate with legal on matters relating to the protection of OCP’s intellectual property. Manage Contract and Royalty Administration Budget. Establish key performance metrics for the department and assist in the design and implementation of related dashboards Test, implement, and oversee any new systems and tools, including the utilization of artificial intelligence, to aid in process improvement and increased efficiency for OCP, and provide documentation and training necessary for on-going users.
