Site Construction Intern

Description Gulf Stream Construction Company is looking for motivated, driven individuals to join our team for a summer internship supporting operations and growth across our Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA locations. This internship offers hands-on immersion in the estimating and project management side of the construction industry — ideal for engineering students who want real-world experience before entering the workforce. You'll work directly alongside experienced estimators, project managers, and superintendents on active projects, gaining exposure you won't get in a classroom. Requirements What You'll Do Support project pursuits through the pre-construction and proposal phases Review construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings to determine scope of work and deliverables Perform quantity takeoffs using both conventional methods (scaling, counting) and estimating software Assist with building cost estimates as assigned Help plan and implement earthwork models using 3D modeling software Participate in project planning meetings and progress reviews Build strong working relationships with project teams, Superintendents, and Project Managers Provide day-to-day project management support to Superintendents and Project Managers Help track and manage project submittals through review and approval Assist in preparing monthly payment applications Take on additional responsibilities as assigned, with room to grow based on interest and initiative Follow all office and jobsite safety policies and procedures What We're Looking For Actively enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Construction Science and Management Junior standing or higher Available to work full-time, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for the duration of the internship A driven, entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine interest in the construction industry Strong attention to detail Solid problem-solving and communication skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Why Gulf Stream Construction?
