IGS is currently recruiting a remote Intermediate 508 Tester to support our work. Please note the role is contingent upon award.  Assignment of Work and Travel: This is a remote access assignment. The Candidate will work remotely daily and will remotely access IGS systems and therein use approved IGS provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.

Ideal candidates will be local to the Washington D.C. Metro area in the event onsite client meetings are required.  The Intermediate Section 508 Accessibility Tester supports accessibility compliance initiatives by conducting accessibility evaluations, validating automated scan results, documenting findings, supporting ICT remediation efforts, and assisting with customer support activities.

This role works under the guidance of senior accessibility specialists to help ensure customer’s digital products and services meet Section 508 and WCAG accessibility requirements. Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to): Conduct manual and automated accessibility testing of: Websites, Web applications, Electronic documents, Forms, Multimedia content, Software applications.  Evaluate ICT products against Section 508 and WCAG AA standards.  Perform keyboard navigation, screen reader, color contrast, and usability testing.  Validate automated scan results and identify accessibility defects.

Document findings and assist in developing conformance reports. Support testing calibration activities and quality reviews. Track recurring accessibility issues and support trend analysis efforts. Assist developers, content authors, and business users in understanding accessibility findings. Support remediation verification testing. Provide recommendations for resolving common accessibility issues.

Participate in accessibility review cycles and follow-up testing. Support intake and tracking of accessibility service requests. Respond to customer inquiries regarding accessibility compliance. Update service trackers, ticketing systems, and knowledge repositories. Assist with accessibility training and awareness sessions. Maintain testing documentation, trackers, and records. Contribute to KPI data collection and reporting activities.

Participate in process improvement initiatives. Support accessibility guidance development and operational documentation. Other duties as assigned Requirements  Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Human Factors, or related field. 3+ years of accessibility testing experience.  2+ years working with Section 508 and WCAG requirements.  Experience testing websites, web applications, or electronic documents.  Experience using automated accessibility testing tools.

Working knowledge of: Section 508 Standards, WCAG 2.1 AA, PDF Accessibility, Microsoft Office Accessibility, HTML and web technologies Experience using accessibility testing tools such as: Axe, WAVE, Accessibility Insights, JAWS or NVDA Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
