The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA is looking for a Product Owner - Business Platforms to join our Denver/hybrid team. A Product Owner is the matrixed leader of an agile development team and is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and evaluating the work generated by a development team to help maximize end-user value.
The role is highly collaborative, requiring regular communication with business stakeholders, developers, architects, operations, and other product teams. Essential Functions: Product Ownership Serve as the primary business owner for CRM/ERP and integrated business platforms. Own business processes and product lifecycle for ERP/CRM technologies. Maintain an expert level understanding of CRM/ERP system architecture, features, and integrations.
Prioritize and maintain the product backlog based on customer and business value, user/member/customer impact, strategic alignment, risk, effort, and dependencies to maximize return on the team's investment. Participate and maintain data governance standards and validation procedures for CRM / ERP ecosystem. Monitor reporting accuracy and platform integrity. Maintain relationships and collaborate with internal and external teams responsible for CRM/ERP, MGMA website, Community Platforms (e.g.
Higher Logic), reporting platforms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), accounting/ecommerce systems, and other integrated applications. Assess impacts of platform changes across connected systems. Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for business-critical issues. Advocate for sustainable architecture and integration practices. Continuously reassess priorities as new information, feedback, CX/UX signals/research, or shifting business needs emerge, and clearly communicate the rationale when priorities change.
Maintain a knowledge base of documentation for CRM/ERP systems and processes. Establish clear ownership of product owners, operational teams, developers, and leaders. Emphasize institutional knowledge capture as well as process/workflow. Stakeholder Engagement Partner with business stakeholders to identify, scope and drive new initiatives and enhancements to existing processes. Work closely with product manager, customer/user experience (Cx/Ux), technology leaders, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on product vision and roadmap for business platforms including ERP and CRM.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and refine business and technical requirements for products. Translate business needs, requirements, and workflows into technical requirements. Leadership and Influence Serve as the connective leader across a matrixed delivery POD (team), aligning and influencing CRM/ERP developers, architects, Cx/Ux, operations, and business stakeholders around a shared product vision without relying on direct authority.
Champion CRM/ERP product vision, communicating the "why" behind priorities so the team understands how their work connects to organizational strategy and member/customer value. Foster a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement, encouraging open dialogue, healthy debate, and candid feedback within the team. Make and communicate decisions with clarity and conviction, taking accountability for prioritization trade-offs and standing behind them while remaining open to new information.
