We are hiring a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Full-time) to join the UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will to lead research projects focused on the structure, function, regulation, and cellular roles of proton-activated chloride channels. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop expertise across multiple experimental approaches and contribute intellectually to new research directions within the laboratory.

Position Summary: A biomedical postdoc position provides an opportunity for early-career researchers to gain valuable experience, develop independent research skills, and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in their field of expertise. Position Key Accountabilities: Design, perform, analyze, and interpret experiments using complementary approaches.
Operate and maintain specialized scientific equipment and develop expertise in advanced experimental instrumentation. Maintain well-organized and accessible experimental records, datasets, protocols, and research documentation. Assist with the training and mentoring of graduate students, research assistants, technicians, and other trainees. Establish, optimize, and validate new laboratory protocols and experimental procedures.
Prepare manuscripts, scientific reports, presentations, and other scholarly materials describing research findings. Present research results at laboratory meetings, departmental seminars, scientific conferences, and other internal and external venues. Possesses strong written and oral communication skills. Contribute to laboratory organization, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and day-to-day laboratory activities.
Promote a safe, organized, respectful, and collaborative laboratory environment. Attend departmental seminar series, scientific meetings, workshops, and other professional development activities. Comply with all University, governmental, institutional, and laboratory policies, regulations, and safety requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education: Doctoral/Terminal Degree Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
