Job Title: Electrical Engineer Job Description This role focuses on engineering and product development for an existing electronic device that has been manufactured for the past 10–15 years. The Electrical Engineer will lead circuit design and PCB layout efforts, refresh and modernize existing board schematics to eliminate obsolete components, and contribute to a redesign of the overall device. Experience with user interface hardware, particularly LCD controllers, is highly valued as the team transitions from a 7-inch to a 5-inch LCD interface.

Responsibilities Redesign and enhance an existing electronic device that has been in production for 10–15 years, with a focus on improving performance, reliability, and maintainability. Perform circuit design for new and updated electronic boards, ensuring robust, safe, and efficient operation. Develop and update PCB layouts using Altium, adhering to best practices for signal integrity, manufacturability, and serviceability.

Review current schematics for all existing boards and refresh them to replace obsolete components and technologies. Collaborate with product development stakeholders to translate functional requirements into detailed electrical designs. Support the redesign of the device’s user interface hardware, including work related to transitioning from a 7-inch to a 5-inch LCD controller. Ensure that all electrical designs comply with relevant standards and can be effectively transferred to manufacturing.

Troubleshoot and resolve design issues identified during prototyping, testing, or production. Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for schematics, layouts, and design changes to support ongoing product lifecycle management. Essential Skills Proven experience in electrical engineering with a focus on circuit design and hardware development. Strong proficiency in PCB design and layout, specifically using Altium design tools.

Ability to design and modify Altium-based boards, including creating and updating schematics and layouts. Solid understanding of electronic components, board-level design, and best practices for long-term product support. Experience working with existing products and refreshing designs to address component obsolescence and modern requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with user interface hardware design, particularly LCD controllers and related display electronics.

Background in hardware product development, working closely with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with redesigning or updating mature products that have been in the market for many years. Formal education in electrical engineering or a closely related field is preferred. Work Environment The role is centered on hardware and electrical engineering work, using Altium and related PCB design tools to update and redesign existing boards.

You will work with established schematics and device architectures, focusing on modernizing components and user interface hardware, including LCD controllers. The environment supports detailed design work, documentation, and collaboration with product development stakeholders to bring updated designs into production. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Maple Grove, MN.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
