Job Title: Assembler Job Description This role involves performing heavy assembly production of hydraulic cylinders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will assemble and test cylinders to precise blueprint specifications, maintain high quality standards, and support on-time delivery to customers. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently as part of an assembly team.
Responsibilities Assemble hydraulic cylinders for all product lines according to detailed blueprint specifications and documented procedures. Follow specific instructions for testing cylinders across all product lines to ensure they meet quality and performance standards. Use precision measuring equipment accurately to verify dimensions and tolerances. Select and use various hand tools and power tools to complete assembly tasks safely and efficiently.
Verify that all test and assembly procedures are followed for every part number and document results as required. Maintain a personal productivity level of at least 90% and support the assembly team in meeting overall productivity goals. Obtain the appropriate work orders, verify that all required materials have been issued to the work order, and submit completed work orders to the Production Manager.
Verify that the Hydrostatic Test Report is fully completed and submit it to Customer Service upon completion of each work order. Accurately complete and enter daily SBU labor cards to record work performed. Take responsibility for the quality of finished products and promptly report quality or engineering issues to the Production Supervisor. Inspect equipment regularly and ensure proper cleaning and basic upkeep to maintain equipment readiness.
Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in the assembly line according to established schedules and procedures. Repeatedly lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on a routine basis while following safe lifting practices. Operate electric hoists and forklifts to load, move, or position materials and products as needed. Assist in training new or transferred employees assigned to the assembly line by demonstrating proper methods and procedures.
Participate actively on at least one committee, such as safety or continuous improvement, or others as created. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with company housekeeping policies. Perform all work in a safety-conscious manner, remain aware of potential hazards, and take appropriate countermeasures to protect yourself and others. Comply with all safety, quality, and operational procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills 1–3 years of previous production or manufacturing experience. Experience in assembly work, preferably in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow detailed written and verbal instructions. Ability to read and use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances.
Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to read and accurately use tape measures. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical components. Ability to routinely push, pull, and lift 50 pounds or more. Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts and electric hoists. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to work productively in a team environment and meet established productivity goals. Willingness to follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
