Job Title: Instrumentation and Electrical Technician Job Description Join a leading fish oil manufacturer in northwest Houston as an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and replacement of electronic instrumentation and controls throughout the plant. Your role will involve diagnosing, calibrating, and troubleshooting electrical problems, checking blueprints, and installing electrical components and equipment.
You will also assist the maintenance team with mechanical repairs when electrical duties aren't required. Responsibilities Install, configure, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and replace electronic instrumentation and controls on plant equipment. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems, using blueprints to install electrical components and equipment. Assist plant, customers, and maintenance personnel in areas of electrical power distribution, electrical controls, and related equipment.
Maintain, calibrate, and operate paper machine process computer (QCS/DCS) and all mill instrumentation. Perform drive system maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks. Perform Boiler/Steam system controls maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks. Estimate job costs and prepare budgets as needed. Develop electrical schematics, layout drawings, and support documentation for installation and start-up of equipment.
Assist the maintenance department, particularly in the area of electrical power distribution. Track inconsistencies to predict malfunctions. Perform hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance. Perform electrical installations, repairs, and service equipment per NEC and NFPA codes. Install conduit, pull wire, and terminate per blueprints. Build and test electrical panels. Essential Skills 5+ years I&E experience in industrial or commercial trades.
Ability to install, commission, and troubleshoot instrumentation and electrical equipment. Willingness and ability to perform mechanical or millwright maintenance when needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in the fish oil, oil & gas, extrusion, or food industry. Experience with PLCs. Familiarity with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) standards. Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
