Job Title: Technician Job Description This role focuses on safely uncrating, moving, and positioning industrial machinery and materials within a large battery manufacturing facility. You will work as part of a team to unload equipment from trailers and containers, relocate it across the production floor, and perform physically demanding tasks using both manual and powered tools. The position requires consistent attention to safety, detail, and proper handling procedures in a fast-paced, labor-intensive environment.
Responsibilities Unload and load cargo from trailers and shipping containers using manual or powered material handling equipment. Uncrate, crate, unpack, pack, and move cargo and machinery using manual and powered hand tools, material handling equipment, and other appropriate tools. Relocate and roughly set equipment and cargo in designated locations on the production floor, ensuring proper placement according to instructions.
Use manual toe jacks, skates, dollies, pallet jacks, and similar equipment to move heavy machinery and materials safely and efficiently. Follow detailed instructions and layout plans to position machinery and equipment accurately on the production floor. Perform general labor tasks, including construction-related duties, basic carpentry, and cleaning as required to support equipment installation and movement.
Assist with securing loads and ensuring that cargo and machinery are properly stabilized during movement and placement. Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of tools and equipment. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate equipment moves and ensure tasks are completed on schedule. Maintain a clean and organized work area, removing debris and packaging materials after uncrating and installation activities.
Work extended hours as needed, including occasional overtime on Saturdays, to meet project and production timelines. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in construction or physical labor-intensive work. Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting and sustained physical labor throughout the workday. Ability to walk 10 or more miles per day in a large facility. Ability to bend, crawl, and walk repeatedly throughout the day to complete assigned tasks.
Experience using general hand tools and power tools in a construction or industrial environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately and consistently. Willingness to obtain an OSHA 10 certification if not already held. Comfort working in hot, non-climate-controlled environments, both indoors and outdoors. Reliability and punctuality for a 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM schedule, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Current OSHA 10 certification or willingness to complete the certification within a defined timeframe. Experience operating forklifts, gradalls, or other lifts is a plus, though not required. Familiarity with material handling equipment such as manual skates, dollies, pallet jacks, and manual toe jacks. Background in general labor, construction, carpentry, or similar trades.
Experience performing cleaning and site preparation tasks in an industrial or construction setting. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial environment.
