Job Description • Supervise the two sections: Repair & Maintenance and Maintenance & Operation. • To ensure that all defects to building, plants and equipment are properly and promptly dealt with, particularly when they are affecting guests’ comfort. • Advise the chief engineer immediately of breakdowns and faults in any system. • To ensure that the responsible skilled operators correctly log all essential plant readings and that all consumable, services, materials and fuels are logged to record consumption and to ensure that adequate supplies of these items are maintained.
• To ensure that all personnel are present at the place of work when scheduled. • To assist the supervisors in preparation of Duty roster. • To supervise the staff under his control in carrying out their duties and to inform the Chief engineer of any misconduct or staff grievance. • To ensure that the induction takes place for all new staff in the Department and to carry out training according to the Training program agreed.
• To ensure that a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in all areas not under the direct responsibility of the Housekeeping Department. • To report to the Chief Engineer on a daily basis to discuss the previous day’s events and plan future work. • To accompany the Chief Engineer on tours of inspection of the Hotel as required. • To assist in the planning and possible improvement of the department.
• To have particular regard for safety of all plants and equipment and the protection of staff and guests against accidents. • To ensure that all accidents suffered by guests or staffs are reported, as the procedure laid down, paying particular attention where machinery pr equipment is involved. • To ensure that all spare and stores are used in economical manner and to supervise the issue and control of the same.
• To ensure that no alteration is made to existing equipment, building, documents and systems without prior approval from the Chief Engineer. • To join the Hotel’s fire brigade. • To ensure that all staff have a clear understanding of the Hotel’s fire drill and staff handbook and the regulations stated within. • Proper follow-up of Preventive Maintenance and Maintenance Plan. • Fire and other safety programmes, effective routine maintenance, water analysis, and quality control.
• Participate with the chief Engineer in review and recommendation of annual budget. • Brief the Chief Engineer on outstanding service requests on daily basis. • Follow-up on all service requests pertaining to activities in your charge and bring to notice of the chief Engineer, any request not attended within 24 hours. • To carry out any other duties that may be assigned by the Chief Engineer. • Organize energy conservation committee meeting on a monthly basis.
Implement energy conservation measures to reduce energy use. • Obtain quotations from outside contractors, summarize and forward to Chief Engineer. • Follow-up and supervise outside contracts. • To ensure the service contracts are done according to the agreement and brief chief Engineer if there is any defect in the quality of work. • To monitor work activity during the course of the day and ensure that all the staff assigned to specific duties are performing their duties.
