Job Summary: The Manager, Frontend Development role is responsible for leading the people, delivery, and technical direction of the frontend development function. This role focuses on building and supporting a high-performing team that delivers clean, usable, modern user interfaces while establishing strong front-end engineering practices across our platforms. This position provides leadership across React-based feature development, modernization of existing platform interfaces, reusable patterns, modular components, style guides, accessibility practices, testing expectations, and frontend standards.
The Manager, Frontend Development works closely with developers, designers, product owners, project managers, engineering leaders, and other stakeholders to align technical execution with product goals, user experience needs, platform direction, and team capacity. As a people leader, this role is expected to coach and develop frontend developers, support hiring and performance management, guide practical technical decisions, remove delivery obstacles, and promote a culture of ownership, collaboration, maintainability, accessibility, and continuous improvement.
The Manager, Frontend Development should also model responsible use of AI-powered development tools to improve delivery, support learning, and strengthen team effectiveness while maintaining accountability for quality, security, and technical understanding. Responsibilities: Lead, manage, coach, and develop a team of frontend developers responsible for internal- and customer-facing user interfaces Own frontend delivery planning, prioritization, execution, and quality in partnership with product owners, project managers, designers, and engineering leaders Guide the implementation and modernization of user interface features, tools, and legacy front-end code across supported platforms Establish, evolve, and promote frontend engineering standards, including style guides, reusable patterns, modular components, code quality expectations, testing practices, and accessibility guidelines Provide technical leadership on React-based development, frontend architecture, system design decisions, maintainability, performance, scalability, usability, and long-term platform consistency Support prototyping, solution exploration, and technical feasibility discussions for complex interface problems Ensure frontend work is delivered with strong attention to visual detail, usability, accessibility, performance, code quality, and maintainability Facilitate effective communication of design considerations, trade-offs, risks, limitations, dependencies, and delivery progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders Review and improve shared development workflows, code review practices, release readiness, testing coverage, and quality assurance expectations for frontend work Mentor developers through regular feedback, pairing, code reviews, growth planning, and day-to-day collaboration Support recruiting, onboarding, performance management, role clarity, and career development for front-end developers Promote responsible use of AI-powered development tools to accelerate delivery, improve problem solving, support learning, and strengthen team effectiveness while maintaining accountability for code quality, security, maintainability, and technical understanding Partner with other development managers and technical leaders to align front-end practices with broader engineering standards and platform strategy Other duties as assigned Skills And Qualifications: Required 10+ years of production-ready software development experience, with strong experience building and shipping modern user interfaces 3+ years of experience leading, managing, or providing formal technical leadership to software developers Strong experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or similar; React preferred Advanced understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript, and modern front-e
