The Program Summary On 26 August 2026 , a glacier and rockfall avalanche near the Rasuwagadhi border triggered a catastrophic debris-flow flood along the Bhotekoshi–Trishuli corridor, severely affecting Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading, districts. Search and rescue operations led by NDRRMA and other responders are ongoing. The disaster has resulted in significant loss of life, injuries, displacement, and extensive damage to infrastructure and livelihoods.

Thousands of affected people are facing critical shortages of shelter, water, food, and sanitation supplies. Mercy Corps Nepal is responding to the disaster supporting the affected families with immediate relief and enabling recovery. The Position (General Position Summary) The Emergency Finance Officer is responsible for supporting day to day financial operations of the emergency response project ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with Mercy Corps Nepal policiesand regulatory requirements.

This position is responsible for processing payments, managing bank-related activities, maintaining accurate accounting records in the financial system, and supporting month-end reconciliations and work closely with partner organization ensuring financial management of partner organization. Essential Job Responsibilities The specific duties and responsibilities of the Emergency Finance Officer include, but are not limited to, the following: FINANCE MANAGEMENT Manage day to day financial operations of the project ensuring compliance with Mercy Corps Nepal policies and other regulatory requirements.

Prepare cash flows, monitor project expenditures, and ensure sufficient liquidity for field operations. Process payments, advances and settlements and maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation. Manage bank-related correspondence including signatory updates and other communication. Conduct day-to-day data entries into Accounting Software Navigator, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with applicable policies and guidelines.

File all vouchers and supporting documents and support proper maintenance of project-related files archive. Review partner/sub-recipient Fund Transfer requests and reconcile with partner financial reports and Navigator data. Prepare photocopies, scans, and other required supporting documents for monthly reporting packages to HQ Finance. Ensure financial management of partner organization and support on financial management capacity building.

COMPLIANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies. Support internal and external audits. COORDINATION AND REPORTING Conduct regular budget monitoring and provides budget Vs expenses analysis to the emergency response coordinator. Support the Interim Senior Finance and Compliance Coordinator in preparation of financial reports, forecasts, and donor financial documentation.

Participate in project planning, coordination meetings and emergency response activities as required. Prepare monthly Cash and Bank Reconciliations and get them approved and filed as required.
