The U.S. Census Bureau is seeking a highly-motivated and capable executive to serve as the Chief Information Security Officer. This position is a Senior Executive Service (SES) General position. Positions in the SES are not graded. SES pay is commensurate with qualifications. SES employees are eligible for bonuses and awards based on performance. Veteran's preference is not applicable to SES. Major duties: The Chief Information Security Officer serves as the advisor to Census Bureau executive management on all areas of Information Technology Security and is responsible for: Developing and communicating the overall information security strategy, goals and objectives with appropriate performance measures to support bureau and department security requirements.
Managing the monitoring and recording of the performance of information systems security initiatives. Recommending courses of action and policies to senior management that allow the Census Bureau to securely meet its organizational goals. Managing cybersecurity acquisition projects and budgets for a large Information Technology infrastructure environment; planning, implementing, and overall project management for cybersecurity objectives; and forming strategic partnerships to accomplish cybersecurity goals and objectives.
Directing bureau-wide automation security programs that comply with federally mandated security requirements and commonly accepted industry automation security best practices. Travel Required: Occasional Travel Description: Travel may be required to attend or present at meetings and conferences on topics relevant to the U.S. Census Bureau's mission. Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
