The primary purpose of this position is to maintain ongoing prototype systems; implement maintenance and repair procedures on major modifications of systems assigned to the activity; may operate and maintain complex computerized automated test equipment in the troubleshooting and repair of line replaceable units (LRUs).
Major duties: Maintains ongoing prototype systems; implements maintenance and repair procedures on major modifications of systems assigned to the activity; and maintains unusually complex systems that have frequent engineering changes. Sets up and operates complex software controlled automated test equipment (ATE) to troubleshoot and repair prototype systems; systems on which major modifications have been made; and unusually complex systems that have frequent engineering change.
Uses and maintains hand tools such as screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, soldering irons, and micro soldering units. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Keeps abreast of new and emerging state of the art and state of the market technologies. Documents work assignments through the use of AFTO Form 781 series and Core Automated Maintenance Systems (CAMS) computer terminals.
