About the Position: Position is in a hospital or clinical setting and is responsible for performing professional clinical laboratory science work supporting the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth mission. Location will be in the Core Laboratory Division, Laboratory Department, Directorate for Clinical Support Services. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Major duties: Perform, evaluate and monitor the performance of routine and specialized test procedures using manual and/or instrumental techniques in accordance with established protocols.,Prepare standards, controls, solutions, and reagents required for testing.,Determine suitability of specimens for analysis.,Perform primary review of patient results.,Identify unusual and/or discrepant values and initiates appropriate follow-up procedures to verify results.,Correlate data with other laboratory findings and/or patient history to ensure timely reporting of patient results to requesting clinicians.,Verify correct instrument operation using established procedures and quality control checks.,Managing inventory priorities and prepare inventory reports,Training new staff and draft/review SOPs Education: FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S.
