Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information. Major duties: Monitors daily system activities and schedules to ensure operational applications are working within the specified parameters of efficiency.,Determines the effectiveness and adequacy of systems and to ensure systems developed are responsive to field management and top-level management requirements.,Uses financial management theories, practices, methods and techniques to research and write system requirements and identify problems in systems and recommends solutions.,Provides training and guidance for converting, implementing, and maintaining payroll and reporting operations and related techniques.,Develops test plans and techniques to ensure integrity of new systems and changes.
Education: GS-11 Substitution of Education for Experience: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed higher-level graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply.
