This position is located in De Soto National Memorial, in the in the Facility Management Division. This position is being filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL). Major duties: This position will be responsible for providing facility management support for a small park with limited infrastructure and resource complexity.
The Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist supports an organization of facilities and equipment through supervision of subordinate staff, multi-year/operational budgets, and the utilization of new information technologies. These duties provide stewardship of assets/facilities ensuring visitor use and enjoyment as well as the protection of natural and cultural resources. Duties to include, but are not limited to: As a part of the park management team, is actively involved in decisions affecting overall park management policy and operations.
Utilize Facility Management Software Systems for cost effective management of assets. Performs and maintains asset inventories and condition assessments for the purpose of developing deferred maintenance costs. Establish project scope, goals, objectives, deliverables, compliance requirements, and alternatives for maintenance projects. Serves as Contracting Officers Technical Representative on contracted work.
Implements a current safety and training program to eliminate at-risk behaviors and environments enforcing regulatory policies and mandates. Maintains cost records and prepares annual work budget plans for maintenance operations. Tracks, analyzes and reconciles annual funding allocations. Supervise a staff of permanent and seasonal employees. Recruits and recommends for selection of employees. Establish work plans, recommends personnel actions, approves leave, sets performance standards and evaluates and awards outstanding performance.
Actively supports EEO programs and communicates this support to subordinates. Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
A uniform allowance will be provided. If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 5 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
