You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Far East (NCTS FE) of NCTSFE DET IWAKUNI JAPAN. ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below.*** Major duties: You will responsible for supporting NCTS FE Detachment Iwakuni and OCONUS Navy Enterprise Network (ONE-Net) users onboard Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni including tenant commands.,You will ensures that the appropriate operational security posture (e.g., network and system security, physical and environmental protection, personnel security, incident handling, security training and awareness) is implemented and maintained.,You will interact with internal and external stakeholders - up to the leadership level - on a daily basis to interpret and provide service offerings to meet requirements, resolve emerging issues and perform periodic audits and inspections.,You will act as the detachment ISSO receiving tasking from the NCTS FE Regional ISSM, and will execute functions at the LNSC designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, networks, and capabilities.

Education: If you are using Education to qualify for this position, You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. At the GS-11 level, a Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily. Military Spouses and Family Members may apply 30 days before their anticipated arrival date.

However, they will not receive preference until arrival at the foreign location. Additional documentation may be required prior to granting preference. Military Spouse Preference applicants will be placed at the highest grade for which they have applied and are determined Best Qualified (BQ). A BQ military spouse possesses knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies comparable to others who meet the competitive referral criteria for the specific position.

PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
