This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.
Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply Major duties: The Nurse Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units. They provide coverage for other ANMs as needed. The ANM has responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and provides input into the evaluation of individual staff performance.
They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes Major duties include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Acts as the Nurse Manager during times of Nurse manager's absence.
2. The Assistant Nurse Manager demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to management of complex peri-operative care. 3. Assists in the day-to-day clinical operations and surgery schedule of the department's 4 operating rooms and 18 pre- and post-operative bays. The range of surgical and procedural specialties include General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Thoracic, Vascular, ENT, GYN, Podiatry, Robotics, and Ophthalmology.
4. Assists in the direct coordination of staffing, physical facilities, supplies, and equipment for nursing services to provide peri-operative care to patients on a 24-hour, 7 days a week basis. 5. Assists in the administration and evaluation of nursing care, program implementation, personnel management, and overall operations of the OR, SDSU, and PACU. 6. Assists in the delivery o quality patient care, including appropriate documentation, employee's clinical/performance competency and continuous national and VANCHCS Performance improvement Measures, consistent with VANCHCS mission.
7. Oversees and monitors employee's adherence to VHA Privacy/HIPPA and Information Security rules and regulations. 8. Assists in the retention and recruitment of highly skilled nursing staff, monitoring changes in workflow, technical and equipment needs, and ensuring a workforce than can adapt to a rapidly changing environment. 9. Assists with ensuring employees complete mandatory annual and just-in-time facility and nursing training and reviews within mandated time frame.
Accomplishes competency verification in conjunction with the Nurse. 10. Familiar with established policies and procedures, administration of the unit in accordance with TJC and VHA policy. Responsible for ensuring staff compliance with VANCHCS and unit-based policies and procedures. 11. Knowledgeable in the application and completes reports regarding policy and procedures that include, but are not limited to: staffing reconciliation, payroll exceptions, risk management, patient incident and personnel accident, EEO, and sexual harassment allegations.
12. Provides leadership and collaborates with the team to improve and sustain the quality and effectiveness of perioperative services to patients in an inter-professional setting. 13. Promotes evidence-based practice in all clinical environments to provide/ensure optimal patient care outcomes. 14. Works collaboratively with nursing education team to identify nd promote staff development and enhance staff competencies, and System Redesign initiatives.
