You are not entering data for someone else to check. You are the accountant. Our client is a US-based accounting and tax firm that carries a portfolio of small-business clients across construction, oil and gas, and day spa and wellness. Each of those clients hands over their books completely, and the person in this seat is the one who takes that responsibility. You set up the QuickBooks Online file, you decide how the chart of accounts is structured, you reconcile, you close the month, and you deliver the financial statement package the owner actually reads.
That is a different level of trust than a typical bookkeeping seat, and it comes with a different level of independence. Nobody is going to remind you that a bank reconciliation is due, or catch a miscoded job cost before it reaches a contractor's job profitability report. This firm's clients stay with it for years because they trust the numbers completely. Your job is to be the reason that stays true.
The construction side is the part most applicants underestimate. Coding a subcontractor invoice to the right job and the right cost code is not clerical work — it decides whether a contractor can tell which jobs are making money and which ones are quietly bleeding. If job costing is genuinely part of your background rather than a line on a resume, this role will feel like a good use of what you already know.
