WORK SHIFT: First Shift (United States of America) JOB DESCRIPTION: The Mold Shop Supervisor is responsible for supervising the activities of the Mold Shop to achieve continuous improvement in quality, cost, safety, and productivity in accordance with the goals of the company. This position supervises and coordinates day to day activities of Mold Shop employees per their supervisor’s and MOS guidelines.
This individual performs assignments, assists others, and/or oversees repairs or tasks done to all types of existing or new mold preparation or secondary tooling and schedules work times and sets priorities for their area of responsibility. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responsible for repairs and modifications performed in house and with outside vendors. Participates in Engineering/Qualifying Production tests and investigates issues that may develop.
Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure safety of mold shop personnel. Manages and coordinates daily activities of the mold shop to meet the quality needs of manufacturing and communicates company policies and safety to employees at start-up meetings or during tours to enforce safety regulations . Coordinates/schedules for production needs by personally entering all of the production mold schedules in the AS400 labor tracker to assign specific duties.
Works with planning and manufacturing to schedule maintenance and repairs of molds, adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Demonstrates good knowledge of molds, dies and secondary tooling. Works with the Mold Shop Manager and manufacturing on developing annual budget for all molds, dies and tooling that needs to be replaced. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and the quality of product.
Suggests and implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop and employees. Guides the department activities to improve the performance of mold repair, insert changes, and mold Maintenance. Solves problems that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts. Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, and/or inter- department relations.
Analyzes and resolves employee conflicts and/or assists employees in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals. Confers with other supervisors or managers to coordinate activities of individual departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, such as: interviewing, hiring, training, directing work, conducting performance appraisals, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing and resolving complaints.
Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization. Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform job successfully. Follows all safety procedures required in work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receive and give feedback, and treats everyone with respect. Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects. Follow all department quality standards/criteria. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Must be able to work overtime as needed, remain flexible and open to possible schedule changes in order to meet business needs.
