Unposting Date: 2026-09-22 11:59 PM As Senior Producer, Audience Growth, you will lead a team that is responsible for video and text platforms. These include but not limited to, CBC Ottawa’s Tik Tok and YouTube as well as CBC Ottawa’s news app and website. In the role you will focus on audience growth on digital platforms and live news coverage on both FAST and terrestrial platforms. In your role you are responsible for text based stories on CBC Ottawa’s website.
You are driven by growth and engagement on our digital platforms. You will ensure CBC Ottawa’s web and app presence is responsive, informative and delivers what the audience wants and needs. You lead a video team that thrives on live content on digital platforms, FAST channels and terrestrial broadcast. You love data, and you track to assist in making a better audience experience on all platforms.
You distribute data to teams to better understand what is resonating with viewers and readers. This role is key to moving local news coverage into the future. You are a champion for change and will motivate your teams to get them focused on delivering on mobile-first needs. You work in conjunction with the CBC News’ Audience Growth team to support best practices that set us up to win on mobile and streaming platforms.
Reporting to the Executive Producer of News you are part of the CBC Ottawa leadership team and help drive the objectives and mission of the station. What you do: Provide and interpret audience data to newsroom leaders to help inform their programming decisions. Provide clear, actionable feedback to teams on audience needs and publishing and packaging fundamentals. Work in partnership with CBC News’ Audience Growth team to: Communicate audience insights and context across all platforms to daily news teams.
Establish best practices across platforms to deliver on measurable audience growth goals for CBC News. Optimize high-performing local stories (including photos, graphics headlines, story-framing, sidebars, etc.). Evolve tactics for growing local audiences, including new platform experiments. Increase and develop content that’s driven by a mobile-first lens for CBC’s Ottawa owned and operated platforms on web and app.
Champion live and breaking content on all platforms Oversee video and digital teams Attend daily editorial meetings and develop assignments through an audience growth lens Ensure current affairs content is being edited for video platforms, including distributed platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. Collaborate closely with the Senior Producer of News to deliver exceptional daily news content that serves the audience Track and distribute data to enhance audience engagement Build team through training, check-ins, and encouragement Follow trends in the industry and make recommendations Work and collaborate with editorial leaders on editorial decisions, specials and planning Ensure visual editorials decision are inline with CBC’s journalistic policies, including verification What your bring : Minimum of 5 years newsroom leadership experience Knowledge of social platforms and broadcast trends th
