General Description: The TWA - Vision Program Support is responsible for providing instructional, programmatic, and material support to the Vision Services Program. Assists with the development, adaptation, organization, and distribution of accessible instructional materials and specialized resources for students with visual impairments.

May provide direct instructional support to students individually or in small groups, as assigned, to reinforce skills identified by the Vision Services team. Assists with maintaining instructional resources, specialized equipment, assistive technology, and program documentation while collaborating with Vision Services staff to ensure students have timely access to appropriate instructional materials and supports.

Performs duties in accordance with Chesterfield County Public Schools policies and procedures. Job Description: Essential Job Functions : Assists with functional vision assessments (FVAs), learning media assessments (LMAs), and other educational evaluations as assigned Provides direct instructional support to students with visual impairments, individually or in small groups, as assigned Reinforces instructional skills identified by the Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments, including braille, assistive technology, organization, sensory efficiency, self-advocacy, and other Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) areas, as appropriate Develops, adapts, and prepares accessible instructional materials, including large print, braille-ready documents, tactile graphics, and digital accessible materials Assists with organizing, maintaining, and distributing instructional materials and specialized equipment Supports the implementation and maintenance of assistive technology and adaptive equipment Collaborates with Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments, Orientation and Mobility Specialists, Vision Program Technicians, school staff, and families to support student access to instruction Assists with maintaining instructional resource libraries, inventories, and program materials Maintains records related to instructional activities, material production, and assigned projects Assists with special projects that support the Vision Services Program Provides logistical support for professional learning, meetings, and other program initiatives Maintains confidentiality of student information and complies with division policies and procedures Performs other duties as assigned Budgetary Responsibility:      This position has no budgetary responsibility.

Report Preparation:   Numerous reports are required (such as evaluations, progress reports, IEPs, etc.). Equipment Operation:   Operates personal computer, general office equipment, and specialized equipment pertaining to students with assistive technology needs   Contacts:   Contacts are made at all levels within and outside the school system and may require the handling of highly sensitive information with the general public and CCPS employees.

Work Direction/Supervision: This position does not supervise or provide work direction to other positions. Decision Making:   Performs majority of essential job functions independently. Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities:   This position has no formal policy-setting responsibilities. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, printed materials and/or controls; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
