The Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for the adaptation, implementation and development of a broad range of Environmental, Health and Safety programs, within the CSL-Melbourne Research and Development operations and Affiliate offices, as well as across lab and office facilities across APAC. The development, harmonization, provision, implementation and monitoring of EHS standards, coordination with GMs and local external EHS experts & specialists at our affiliates and R&D centers is essential and integral part of this role.
Reporting to the Head of EHS R&D and Affiliates, this position demonstrates competence across a variety of EHS disciplines while ensuring EHS compliance requirements are being reviewed and maintained at several CSL facilities Key Responsibilities Provides guidance and structure to support safety programs across several labs, offices, and distribution locations to ensure on-going compliance with European, country-specific laws and regulations through reviews, corrective action, and continuous improvement.
Manages Melbourne site EHS programs to ensure on-going compliance through reviews, corrective action, and continuous improvement. Engage with company facility and regional senior management to represent the EHS Function as part of the regional leadership governance process. Ensures site delegates meet all outlined requirements and renewal requirements. Develops Standardized Environmental and Safety Programs Facilitates and performs risk identification and analysis.
Affiliates: Risks that arise from typical office-based and field-based activities R&D center: Risks that arise from typical laboratory activities. Facilitates and performs environmental risk identification and analysis. Outlines training requirement to staff. Ensures regulatory compliance and site conformance to procedures and policies Develops EHS Incident Program & Procedures Reviews and categorizes incident reports, investigations, and CAPA.
Leads and reviews incident investigations and outlines areas for improvement or additional mitigation efforts. Tracks incident and CAPA metrics. Assists with incident notifications and safety alerts Other Responsibilities as Assigned May Include Environmental and sustainability program management. Development of technical documents including EHS procedures, programs, and training. Owns the development and execution of emergency response plans and drills.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering or equivalent; master’s degree preferred General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety recommended 7+ year’s relevant EHS experience Thorough knowledge of safety and environmental regulations Pharmaceutical, R&D or chemical operations experience Ability to work independently and build partnerships globally Must be able to travel within the APAC region.
Must have the ability to write procedures, policies, reports, and correspondence.
