We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health & Safety Specialist II to join our team and drive compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives across our operations. Role Purpose The Health & Safety Specialist II is responsible for contributing to, implementing, and monitoring the company's health, safety, environmental, and energy management programs to minimize workplace hazards, environmental impacts, and risks to employee health and safety.
The role supports the development and execution of EHS policies, procedures, and initiatives while ensuring compliance with company standards and Malaysian regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Health, Safety & Environmental Management Implement and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs to support a safe and compliant workplace. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to safe work practices across all departments.
Identify workplace hazards and environmental risks and implement effective control measures. Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, safety observations, and compliance audits. Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Monitor compliance with legal, regulatory, and company EHS requirements. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation, Environmental Quality Act requirements, and other applicable regulations.
Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and communicate compliance obligations to site management. Liaise with DOSH, DOE, local authorities, external auditors, and regulatory agencies when required. Prepare and maintain statutory reports, permits, records, and documentation. Training & Employee Engagement Coordinate and facilitate EHS training, inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness programs.
Provide guidance and coaching to employees and supervisors on safe work practices. Support Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities, drills, and preparedness initiatives. Environmental & Sustainability Programs Support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives, including waste management, pollution prevention, energy management, and resource conservation. Monitor environmental performance and recommend improvement measures to reduce environmental impact.
Continuous Improvement Contribute specialist expertise and insights to support EHS strategy and business objectives. Track EHS performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system implementation and maintenance. Required Skills and Education Education & Experience Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the automotive industry. Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of Malaysian OSH legislation, environmental regulations, and workplace safety practices. Familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949 requirements. Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, safety audits, and regulatory compliance. Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
