This Position reports to: Procurement and Logistics Manager Your role and responsibilities: In this role, you will support ABB’s Automation business in India by improving excellence in trade, customs, and logistics operations.
You will collaborate closely with Legal, Procurement, Trade Compliance, SCM, and Logistics teams to improve compliance practices and enhance operational efficiency across the end-to-end supply chain. Each day, you will apply your skills to ensure smooth customs operations, regulatory adherence, and optimized logistics performance. The work model for the role is: #LI - Onsite This role contributes to the Automation Business Unit in the India-Bangalore region.
Main Stakeholders include Trade Compliance Officers, Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders, Procurement teams, Logistics Providers, and Customs/Regulatory Authorities You will be mainly accountable for: Optimizing trade and customs operations by developing strategies that reduce costs, improve efficiency, and ensure full regulatory compliance. Managing end-to-end logistics processes including transportation, freight forwarding, customs clearance, and warehousing.
Managing customs compliance activities by acting as the primary contact for brokers, ensuring accurate declarations, and conducting audits to verify correctness of entries and records. Maintaining regulatory knowledge by staying updated on import/export laws, tariffs, duties, licensing requirements, and global sanctions frameworks, while working closely with Trade Compliance Officers. Managing vendor and partner relationships through evaluation of customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers, supporting Procurement in negotiations and KPI development.
Qualifications for the role: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Economics, Commerce, or related discipline. 10–12 years of experience in Trade & Customs Logistics Operations with solid experience in compliance and local regulations. Extensive knowledge of customs laws, DGFT processes, regulatory compliance, sanctions frameworks, and internal audit practices.
Experience in developing and implementing trade compliance policies and process improvements. Practical experience with Global Trade Management Systems, including SAP GTS. Effective communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex trade and customs topics for diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to track, report on, and manage government communications, notices, and dispute resolution processes.
